Dr. Md. Mosharaf Hossain (Palash)
Interventional Pain Medicine Specialist
Dr. Md. Mosharaf Hossain, MD is an accomplished anesthesiologist and pain medicine specialist at the Department of Anesthesia, Analgesia, and Intensive Care Unit, National Institute of Cancer Research and Hospital, the leading cancer care center in Bangladesh. Driven by a passion for clinical and interventional pain management, Dr. Hossain is dedicated to improving patient outcomes, especially in low-resource settings.
Since 2022, Dr. Hossain has specialized in managing chronic pain, cancer pain, and neuropathic pain in both government and private practice.
His expertise spans advanced pain management techniques, including radiofrequency ablation, chemical ablation, ozone therapy, ozone discectomy, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy, various nerve blocks, fluoroscopic spine procedures, transforaminal epidural, vertebroplasty, and musculoskeletal ultrasound.
Dr. Hossain’s research focuses on post-COVID pain and disability, avascular necrosis of the hip, and innovative approaches in pain management. He has presented his work at prestigious events, including the 9th South Asian Regional Pain Society (SARPS) Congress and the 25th Pain Congress by the Bangladesh Society for the Study of Pain.
Dr. Hossain graduated with an MBBS from Rajshahi Medical College in 2011 and joined the Bangladesh Civil Service in 2014. He completed his residency in anesthesiology at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, earning his MD in 2022. To further his expertise in pain medicine, he pursued an advanced pain fellowship at Dhaka Specialized Pain Management and Research Center, a Fellowship in Pain Management from Aesculap Academy Daradia in India, and the Global Online Pain Fellowship from the University of Minnesota, USA. In 2024, he passed Part I of the European Diploma in Pain Medicine from the European Society of Regional Anaesthesia & Pain Therapy (ESRA).
As a recognized expert, Dr. Hossain was honored as an ASA Global Scholar in 2024 by the American Society of Anesthesiologists and invited to an observership at the University of Pennsylvania. At ANESTHESIOLOGY 2024, ASA’s annual meeting, he presented his research on chronic pain and disability.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Hossain is the Assistant Editor of the Bangladesh Journal of Pain and an active member of renowned organizations, including the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP), the European Society of Regional Anaesthesia & Pain Therapy (ESRA), International Anesthesia Research Society (IARS) and the Bangladesh Society of Anesthesiologists, Critical Care, and Pain Physicians (BSA-CCPP).
